Guardian Con is a community based, charity event. A large community of like-hearted gamers coming together to make the world a better place. Grown at the roots in the Destiny community, we have grown and continue to grow the community, in hopes of creating a larger charitable footprint for years to come.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
What started as a fan meetup for Destiny streamers KingGothalion and Professor Broman in August of 2015 grew to encompass numerous Destiny content creators. The result was what fans dubbed "DestinyCon".
A year later in 2016, Destiny Community Con took place again in Tampa, Florida, as a proper convention with proceeds going St. Jude Children's Research Hospital where the Destiny community raised over $544,000. After Destiny Community Con ended the event was rebranded as Guardian Con.
It was in 2017 that Guardian Con passed 1 million dollars raised for St. Jude with a total of US $1,078,510.00 raised.
The event took place in the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall in Tampa, Florida with attendees the likes of Dr. Lupo, TripleWreck, SheSnaps, BurnBxx, MyNameIsByf and more! You can visit the GC17 photo gallery here.
Guardian Con 2018 had one goal: to raise enough money to run St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for one day. When the event had been announced, that total was 2.4 million dollars, and by the end of the event, the total raised was US $2,851,866.
In addition to the US $46,680.79 monthly donations (through sustained giving), Guardian Con became more than just a Destiny meetup at a bar. Guardian Con 2018 took place at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL. You can visit the GC18 photo gallery here.
